At the moment my interest is in the myriad of mushrooms and fungi popping up due to the season and constant we weather. Every Cooks River walk brings the possibility of stumbling upon fungi. They particularly like to pop out of seemingly nowhere under the many casuarina trees that grow along the river banks. I have seen swathes of tiny white capped mushrooms, strange bright red stinkhorns and weird puff balls that look alarmingly toxic.
